Riamba's line-up came about through the musicians’ joint love of traditional Cuban music in the Son style – the roots of Salsa. With their eclectic musical experiences, the musicians merge their own individual styles, creating their own unique sound which combines the rhythms of Latin America with European harmony and the virtuosity of jazz, resulting in compelling music for dancing as well as the concert stage. Riamba’s musicians, who are from Europe and Latin America, have toured extensively around the world with renowned artists such as Enclavegospel, The Ghana Dance Ensemble, Stewart Copeland (The Police) as well as playing at world-famous venues such as: The Royal Albert Hall, The Royal Festival Hall, Jazz Café, Bolivar Hall, Cubana and The National Theatres (London and Ghana).
Performing at outdoor festivals, indoor concerts and private events, the female-led vocalist is backed by a strong rhythm section which includes: piano; trumpet; flute; saxophone; bass and typical Cuban percussion. The combination of its international musicality, energy and highly rated musicians has made Riamba one of the UK’s sought-after Salsa dance and Latin jazz bands of today.
